Greater Poland Uprising Museum, Poznań, Poland

Mar 24, 2026
In Poznań, the construction of the Greater Poland Uprising Museum is progressing, a project of significant cultural and technical relevance. The complex consists of four buildings connected by a shared underground level. Its most distinctive feature is a reinforced concrete dome with a central skylight, one of the main structural challenges of the project.

The complexity of its geometry required a high-precision formwork system. ULMA developed a solution based on the MK System and VM‑20 beams, with custom-made and pre-assembled components to accurately define the load-bearing ribs of the dome. The shoring solution was carried out using T‑60 shoring towers and props, while the formwork for the concrete ribs was designed using the ENKOFORM beam formwork system. The execution was planned in several phases, coordinating design, assembly and equipment supply.

Another technical challenge was supporting the slabs at great height, using radial steel trusses, which interfered with the shoring elements. The use of BIM methodology with Revit® made it possible to model the structure in 3D, anticipate clashes, and optimise the final solution. ULMA’s technical team designed a tailored solution combining shoring systems, the MK System, VM beams, and a temporary floor over T-60 towers as a base for the props. The project also incorporated the new ONADEK system with dropheads, which reduced assembly and formwork stripping times for flat, low-height slabs.
