Customised solutions for singular geometries

Dec 02, 2025
The residential development Parque Arboleda II, located in Santiago de Chile and developed by Inmobiliaria Paz, has established itself as a benchmark for architectural and construction innovation in the field of residential building. With a total floor area of 25,279 m², two basement levels, eight storeys above ground and 59 dwellings, the building has been designed by Izquierdo Lehmann Arquitectos, whose proposal stands out for its distinctive design and carefully conceived structural integration.

One of the main challenges has been the execution of the tetradrop-shaped columns, characterised by multiple angles, a high density of reinforcement and the complexity of the concreting process. To address this, ULMA has worked closely with the client from the very beginning of the project, developing bespoke formwork solutions and applying 3D modelling tools that have made it to achieve a precise understanding of the geometry, schedule each construction phase in advance and secure accurate execution throughout the process. Thanks to this joint planning effort, a two-phase construction procedure has been defined, facilitating the correct execution first of the base and subsequently of the three upper arms of each element.

In addition to the special formwork, ULMA has supplied a range of systems that has helped to maintain the construction schedule, ensure structural stability and meet the quality standards set by the client. ORMA vertical formwork has been used for the basement walls, providing high performance and reducing labour requirements. The KSP Shaft Platform has been installed in the lift shaft, enabling safe working platforms to be positioned over openings and thereby improving the mobility of site teams. For the cantilevered areas on the first floor, BRIO Multidirectional Scaffolding and ALUPROP aluminium shoring towers have been used, a combination that has ensured safe and reliable shoring. The BTM metal beam formwork has been applied to cast the basement slabs up to the level of the tetradrop-shaped columns.

The coordinated work between the contractor and ULMA has been essential to meeting the project’s standards. Daily collaboration between the technical teams, the precise fabrication of specialist components and weekly planning aimed at resolving each construction milestone have ensured steady progress and a high-quality finish.

“We have had a strategic partnership with ULMA for over 13 years, during which we have delivered numerous large-scale residential projects together. This project, in particular, has pushed the boundaries of architecture, geometry and engineering. It has been a genuinely collaborative effort, with both teams working towards a shared success,” says Jorge Molina, General Manager of Constructora Paz.
