Control tower at Dakar International Airport, Senegal

Simple solutions with climbing systems
Also present in this part of the world, ULMA undertook the construction of the 49.74 m high control tower at the Dakar International Airport.

Description

Also present in this part of the world, ULMA undertook the construction of the 49.74 m high control tower at the Dakar International Airport.

With a nominal outside diameter of 7.8 m and 7 m inside diameter, the tower involves six different sections, due to the disappearance of walls and beams in some cases, and to the variation of the outside diameter.

ULMA Solution

The outside formwork consisted of four ENKOFORM V-100 panels supported on CR-250 climbing brackets.

The inside formwork had 26 panels, some on climbing brackets and others on KSP platforms, due to the lack of space for the climbing brackets.

The formwork design made it possible to withstand concrete pressures of up to 60 kN/m2. The largest outside formwork unit (formwork and base structure) weighed 5,600 kg, while the largest inside unit reached 3,600 kg. This solution allowed for the lifting of each set independently and by crane.
