T-60 Shoring System, effective in any application
The project consisted in transforming the existing Opera and Philharmonic of Białystok into a new European Center for Music and Art.

Description

The project consisted in transforming the existing Opera and Philharmonic of Bialystok into a new European Center for Music and Art. The unique solutions were able to adapt the older construction with the new, modernistic project.

ULMA Solution

For the first phase execution of the main building's structure (with a useful surface area of 9,424 m², constructed area of 6,302 m² and halls with a capacity for 1,000 and 200 seats), the overall formwork supply was planned. Architectural concrete technology was used in most of the project.

The challenge was the execution, in a single phase, of 10 m high walls and 15 m high columns of fair-faced concrete, over which horizontal concrete beams were placed. T-60 towers with a height of 11 m and modular vertical formwork were used in the construction of these beams.

The walls of the main hall, the area with the greatest height of the entire building, were completed in concrete pouring cycles of a 6.6 m height, with the use of 2 x 3.3 m panels of modular formwork. Working platforms and pouring platforms were used at all times, which guaranteed worker safety during the entire construction work.

To support the amphitheater balconies, hollow columns with a diameter of 1.90 m and a height of 4.5 m were built using ENKOFORM V-100, which is able to adapt to any geometry.

The 10.8 m tall wall that separates the stage from the auditorium was placed at a 16 m high elevation. T-60 Shoring System was used as a shoring structure during the concrete pouring of the wall, which was performed in two 5.4 m phases with vertical formwork panels.

The T-60 falsework displayed its effectiveness in every application. To support the 75 m long arched beam, with a 1 x 2 m cross-section, 8 m high towers were used. In the execution process, their height was increased to 10 m, and the COMAIN system resolved the formwork of the beam and its edges.

Additionally, a thick beam, with a 80 x 120 cm cross section, was built at a height of 22 m by using a formwork in the shape of the bottom of the beam.

This project required the construction of very tall walls, with the risk that this type of construction entails for workers. In accordance with the principles that guarantee workplace safety, the necessary protection mechanisms were provided at all times, such as SARE safety system nets, without having their use interfere in the progress of the construction work.
