Pylon on Bucharest Ring Road, Romania

Construction of inclined variable section pylon
The project is an overpass over the railway in Otopeni, on Bucharest's ring road.

Description

The project is an overpass over the railway in Otopeni, on Bucharest's ring road.

The pylon is 47.65 m high with two legs 20º inclined with respect to the vertical, which are horizontally linked by two beams at 25 m and 41 m, respectively.

The curved legs are of variable section and 28.3 m high. From there on, the section of both arms is constant.

ULMA solution

ENKOFORM V-100 formwork was applied. The four outside panels were supported on CR-250 Climbing Brackets. Horizontal working platforms ensured workers' safety.

Each set, consisting of one panel on two braced climbing brackets, was lifted independently by crane to be transferred to the next pouring stage.

The panels were held with Ø15 tie rods to withstand up to 40 kN/m2 of concrete pressure.

BRIO Modular Scaffolding provided access stairs and working platforms to the pylon.
