Description

This $500 Million dollar project at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut is adding a number of new residences for students at this prestigious university.  These new residences are situated on a 6.7 acre triangle of land just south of the school's Ingalls Rink.  Expected completion for the project is for the opening of the Fall 2017 semester.  This project will consist of 300,000 square feet of elevated slab ranging from 12 to 27 feet high.

ULMA Solution

Due to the complex layout of the project, we were able to create the lowest in-place concrete cost by using our ENKOFLEX system. The ENKOFLEX system is extremely versatile, is not restricted by any grid and requires a minimum amount of infilling. The advantages of ENKOFLEX system is that it can use numerous combinations of ULMA's proven shoring products including EP Steel Props, ALUPROP aluminum posts, aluminum stringers and H20 engineered wood beams to form almost any type of slab structure with a wide range of slab thicknesses. ULMA provided about 60,000 square feet of the ENKOFLEX shoring system to construct the slabs. ULMA also provided design and stamped in-house engineering drawings.
